Business Development Associate

A part-time role as a junior business development professional in a tech startup that is supercharging eCommerce delivery in Africa

Overview:

We're looking for a motivated sales & marketing superstar to join our Business Development team here at Slide. As part of our team, you'll play a critical role in generating new business opportunities and driving sales growth.

Here's what you'll be doing:

Our customer base is local SME brands ranging from fashion to beauty and cosmetics. Our tech is built to give these brands delivery superpowers and it will be your job to reach out these local entrepreneurs and get them to join the club. In doing this:

  • You'll be conducting market research to find new sales opportunities and target markets.
  • You'll be generating leads through outbound activities such as cold-calling, email, and more.
  • You'll be building strong relationships with potential customers and collaborating with the sales team to develop and execute sales strategies.
  • You'll also attend shows, conferences, and other events to generate new leads and business opportunities.
  • To make sure you're always up-to-date on industry trends, you'll be keeping a close eye on industry trends and competitive intelligence.
  • Finally, you'll be providing weekly and monthly reports on sales activities and results.

Here's what we're looking for:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field
  2. 1-3 years of experience in sales or sales development
  3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  5. Strong organisational and time management skills
  6. Proficiency in Notion or a similar CRM platform
  7. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  8. If you have a Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field or are a final year student, that's a plus.
  9. We're looking for someone with 0-3 years of experience in sales, but if you're a go-getter with a can-do attitude, we'd love to hear from you!
  10. We need someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, who can work independently or as part of a team.
  11. You'll also need strong organisational and time management skills, proficiency in Notion or a similar CRM platform, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

The nitty-gritty:

  • Pay - You'll earn a R3,000 baseline + a sales commission of R500 per client conversion.
  • Duration - The contract will be for a fixed period with the opportunity to convert to a full-time role.
  • Logistics - It is a remote role but we may require you to go visit leads so a car is required.
